Experience the Tradition and History of China!

In partnership with Xi'an International University and the College of Lake County, the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs is pleased to offer a fall semester in Xi'an, China.

Xi'an  is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization of China. During Xi'an's 3,100 year- development, 13 dynasties placed their capitals in this city, which so far enjoys equal fame with Athens, Cairo, and Rome as one of the four major ancient civilization capitals.  The cultural and historical significance of Xi'an, as well as the abundant relics and sites has made Xi'an know as a 'Natural History Museum.' The Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses is praised as 'the eighth major miracle of the world.' The City Wall of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) is the largest and most intact Ming Dynasty castle in the world. The natural landscape around Xi'an is also marvelous. Mt.Huashan, one of the five best-known mountains in China, is famous for its breath-taking cliffs and its unique characteristics. The down-town area, with bustling businesses and commercial activities, is about 15-minute ride on public bus from Xi'an International University.
