Students participating in this study abroad program
study in
Salzburg College, a private English-speaking
college in the heart of the Old City. Housed in
a 16th century townhouse,
Salzburg College is selected by US and many
international students for a study abroad
experience. With an extremely low teacher-student
ratio, Salzburg College offers students the
opportunity to develop a close relationship with
English-speaking Austrian instructors in a
breath-taking environment.
All instruction is in English at Salzburg
College. However, all students are required to
study the German language as part of their course
load. Students are encouraged to speak German as
much as possible.
The classes in Salzburg are small, permitting a
low student to teacher ratio. The Salzburg College
faculty has many years of experience in working with
American students.
Salzburg College provides a schedule of
activities and other pertinent information on its
website.
Salzburg College provides an extensive
FAQ online, and each participant will
receive a student handbook containing extensive
practical guidelines during the first week.
The Salzburg College European Studies Program was
initially developed jointly with Northern Illinois
University and Illinois State University in 1970.
The first group of students studied in Salzburg in
1971. In addition to its semester/year study
abroad programs, Salzburg College also conducts
summer programs, including a European Studies
Program in May and June.
