Program Description:
This
four-week program is designed to give participants
an immersion experience in the history and culture
of Australia. Students will have the opportunity to
learn from team of MacQuarie instructors across
several disciplines and research specializations
including indigenous Australian history, colonial
history, art, architecture, environmental studies,
sociology, and other fields. Instruction related to
this program will entail both classroom instruction
on the MacQuarie campus and numerous field trips to
sites of cultural and historical significance
including the Blue Mountains, Canberra, NSW Art
Gallery, Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney Opera House ,
Powerhouse Museum, Federal Parliament, Australian
Stock Exchange, and other group learning activities.
All
participants will receive 3 credits in the History
of Australian Culture and Society (transcripted as
“World History in the 20th Century” at
MATC) and have the opportunity to complete
additional research and writing to earn an
additional 3 credits via a Special Topics in
Contemporary Society option. The cost of tuition is
included in the program fee. |
