This
four-week, six-credit program provides participants
an immersion experience in the history and culture
of Australia. Students will have the opportunity to
learn from a team of
MacQuarie University instructors drawn from
several disciplines and research specializations,
including indigenous Australian history, colonial
history, art, architecture, environmental studies,
and
sociology. Numerous field trips to
sites of cultural and historical significance
including the Blue Mountains, Canberra, the New
South Wales Art
Gallery, Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney Opera House,
Powerhouse Museum, the Federal Parliament, theAustralian
Stock Exchange, and other group learning activities
will complement the classroom instruction provided
on the MacQuarie campus.
All
participants will receive three credits in the
History of Australian Culture and Society and have the opportunity to complete
additional research and writing to earn an
additional three credits via a Special Topics in
Contemporary Society option.
The program fee of $2,700 includes up to six credits
of tuition, room and board (three meals/day) on the
MacQuarie campus, airport transfers in Australia,
field trips and entrance fees, and student bus
passes in Sydney.
